Deux français ont acheté et offert cette plaque en mémoire du 1er lieutenant Leroy Sasse du 7ème régiment de la 3ème division d'infanterie tué par un mine 70 ans plus tôt.
Mr Francis Froidevaux, membre de l'association "US Memory Grand Est France" avait entrepris ce projet il y a un an.
Le mur sur lequel la plaque fût apposée appartient au jardin de la famille Frechin dont certains membres furent témoin de la mort du Lieutenant Sasse. Ils donnèrent leur accord pour la pose de la plaque. Ils dirent même qu'ils prendront soin de la plaque et déposeront régulièrement des fleurs.
Le Lieutenant Sasse repose au cimetière américain d'Epinal.


Two French Gentleman bought and offered this plaque in memory of 1st LT Leroy SASSE of the 3rd infantry division , 7th regiment killed on the very spot by a mine.

Mr Francis FROIDEVAUX, member of the association "US MEMORY GRAND EST FRANCE had this project in mind  since a year.

 The wall where the plaque is belongs to the garden of the FRECHIN family who was witness to the death of LT SASSE and agreed to have the plaque on their wall.

They even said they would take yearly care of the plaque and put flowers regulardly at the site. LT SASSE is buried in the EPINAL CEMETERY - FRANCE.
