Notre père Noël de 1944 a reçu la médaille de chevalier de la légion d’honneur pour son patriotisme envers son pays et son engagement au prix de sa vie dans la libération de la France dans la 79 eme division d’infanterie américaine, combats en Alsace près de Dauendorf en Alsace du Nord en décembre 1944 alors qu’il était âgé de 18 ans et où il faut blessé recevant la bronze Star. Ne l’oublions pas.
Our dear Santa Claus of 1944;received the medal of knight of the legion d’honneur. For his gallantry during the combats he went through while liberating France in 1944.
Mr Cotton was 18 years old while serving in the 79 th infantry division and was fighting near Dauendorf in Northern Alsace during fierce the combats of December 1944.
Mr Cotton was wounded during these fights and received a bronze star for his bravery in combat.
Lest not forget him.
Un autre vétéran s'en est allé. Richard Cotton, connu par beaucoup d'entre nous comme le Père Noël de 1944 est décédé cette semaine.
Il était venu en Décembre 2014 avec ses deux enfants et deux de ses petits enfants.
Après s'être rendu au cimetière américain d'Epinal-Dinozé pour rendre hommage à ses frères d'armes., il s'était rendu en Alsace. Il y retrouva la dame à qui il avait offert des cadeaux pour Noël
1944.
A other veteran has passed away. Richard Cotton, known by most of us as the Santa Claus of 1944 has passed away this week. He went to
France in December 2014 with his two sons and two of his grandchildren.
After visiting to the Epinal American Cemetery to pay tribute to his comrades, he went to the Alsace region. He met the woman that received the gifts he gave for Christmas 1944.
Francis LOS, soldat de la 103ème d'infanterie enterré au cimetière de Dinozé-Epinal était marié et avait des enfants. Voici son épouse qui a élevé ses enfants seule et ne s'est jamais remariée, elle a aujourd'hui 95 ans. Elle est avec son frère Gus qui est venu sur la tombe de son beau frère Francis en Mai 2014.
Gardez le souvenir de ces braves soldates et de leurs familles !
Francis LOS, soldier of the 103rd infantry division (the Cactus) buried in Epinal-Dinozé cemetery was maried to this beautiful lady,
she did not remarry and raised her family ...She is 96 years old today and she is on the picture with her younger brother Gus who came to Epinal in 2014 to visit his brother in law's grave.
Francis is buried on plot A.
Keep the memory of these brave soldiers alive and remember their families!

Aujourd'hui, un de nos héros nous a quittés.
Michael HALIK avait quitté sa Tchecoslovaquie natale à l'age de 6 ans pour venir s'établir avec sa famille aux Etats Unis.
Michael HALIK alors un jeune homme avait combattu avec la 3ème division d'infanterie "Rock of the Marne"en Italie et en France.
Lors du débarquement le 15 Août 1944, Michael descendu de sa barge de débarquement de l'eau jusqu'aux genoux marcha sur une mine qui lui emporta touut le pied. Il dut attendre des heures avant d'être soigné.
Pour sa bravoure au combat il reçut une Bronze Star, une Purple Heart et la légion d'honneur. Michael HALIK était ingénieur en chimie à l'arsenal de Picatinny dans le New Jersey.
Nous l'avions accueilli à Raddon avec 6 autres vétérans et leurs familles pour l'inauguration de la stèle dédiée au 30ème régiment de la 3ème division.
C'était un homme charmant et plein de gentillesse que nous allons beaucoup regretter.
Il est allé rejoindre ses frères d'armes dans la maison du seigneur.
We lost another hero today.
Michael HALIK, was 6 years old when he left his native Tchecoslovaqia with his family to emigrate to the United States.
As a young man he joined the 3rd US infantry division, "the Rock of the Marne" to fight in Italy and France.
As his unit was landing near the coast of Provence the 15th of August 1944, he stepped on a mine which blew up his foot
and had to wait several hours to be taken to an aid station.
For his bravery in combat Michael received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the French Legion d'Honneur.
We had met Mr HALIK when he came to Raddon with his daughter and son and several veterans and their families in 2012 when we inaugurated the stele for the 18 american soldiers who were killed in Raddon, the 17th of september 1944. Mr HALIK was a chemical engineer working for the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey.
We will remember mr HALIK as a sweet and wonderful person. We have a picture of him smiling to a young french kid, presenting him a home made american flag in Luxeuil Les Bains. He will be burried in the National Cemetery at Arlington.
We know our dear mr HALIK will be joining his brothers in arms in the mansions of the lord.
27 Juillet, anniversaire de la l'Armistice de la fin de la guerre de Corée, une guerre méconnue où de nombreux soldats américains sont morts face aux nord coréens et aux chinois. Un monument en leur honneur a été erigé à Washington DC en leur honneur.
27th july armistice Day for the Korean war. This war is a war that few people kniow about, even though numerous american soldiers died there fighting the north koreans and the chinese. A monument has been erected in Washington D.C. to remind the people of the sacrifices our soldiers made to liberate and keep free South Koreans... Freedom is not cheap.. Let Us Remember our Soldiers
Un autre vétéran de la 2 ème infanterie division "The Indianhead Division" a reçu la légion d'honneur pour avoir combattu en France pour sa libération. L'association est très heureuse de vous présenter M. Fernald SHAW de l'état de Washington qui nous remercie de notre aide.
L'association a aidé plus d'une cinquantaine de vétérans à recevoir cette distinction pour leur combat en France , eux plus que tous autres méritent bien cette reconnaissance de la nation française envers leurs sacrifices pour une nation qui n'était pas la leur.
Another veteran of the second Infantry Division " the Indianhead Division or Second To None" received the medal of the "legion of honor".
The association is happy to present mr Fernald SHAW from Washington State who thanks us for help in getting this coveted medal.
The association has helped more than 50 veterans to get the legion d'honneur , these veterans more than anyone deserve justly to receive this medal as a recognition
from the french state to their sacrifices of freeing France.

maintient un contact constant avec l'association et ses membres.

The 3rd Infantry Division in the USA and the organization US Memory Grand Est France are partners to keep the memory of their
WWII soldiers alive. The organization and the Division are always in contact to exchange news with theirs members.

Un autre vétéran à reçu la Légion d'honneur récemment à San Antonio, Texas pour ses services lors de la Seconde Guerrre Mondiale. Il s'agit du Colonel Tom Morris âgé aujourd'hui de 104 ans. Merci
à lui !
Colonel MORRIS who is now 104 years old is one of our veterans of the Second Infantry Division. He has received the French Legion d'Honneur recently in San Antonio
for his gallant services in France during WW2.
